I’ve been taking Kung-Fu classes for 8 weeks now, and lately, I’ve been training daily too. But never did a day pass by without me getting myself either bruised (in all brilliant colors from blue to red, green, brown, black, purple, pink, orange, yellow…), or tumbled to unconciousness. On good days sore muscles are the worst I would get. On bad days I would get them all. I would wake up each morning from the pain I feel in those muscles whose existence I was never even aware of ever before. I would have to spend weekends in bed while suffering from the aches and twinges and helplessly wait for them to pass by. On some days my mere daily physical survival was just too much torture to bear.
It is hard, but it is worth the effort.
In short: I love it.

Aghast. Bulked. Beaten. Frustrated. Disappointed. Depressed. Worsted. Upset. Hopeless. Down. Unhappy. Crushed. Owned. Sullen. Gloomy. Sad. Somber. Dejected. Wistful. Pensive. Bleak. Dreary. Cheerless. Dismal. Melancholy.
How do you describe pain?

Once struck by Cupid’s arrow, it will suddenly be hard to see the fine line between admiration and infatuation. As soon as that one certain moment took your breath away, you’ll be at the mercy of Cupid’s delight.
Then comes the bittersweet phase of longing and yearning. Of being emotionally retarded. Knowing that no amount of efforts would ever deliver a result.
There’s not much left to do than to wait for the fire to burn out.
Trust me. I’ve been there, done that.

I’m not ready to go. But all good things must come to an end, and I need to fly back home to work for my next trip. (How about that for an incentive?) I need to pack, but I lazy bum was not really in the mood for packing. Not on this beautiful sunny morning. As I looked around my cluttered room, my fears about excess luggage and all punishing fines that go with it need suddenly rose. And that didn’t help either.

Goodbye Turkey. I sure will hit you again soon.

Work has been a bitch stressful since the last few weeks and we are currently experiencing the climax of oppression which I truly hope would end by tomorrow for my sanity’s sake. To top it all, I merely slept this week. A total of 20 hours since Sunday to be exact (yeah, I’m a chronic insomniac).

One thing today sweetened my bitter week though: A co-worker of ours stationed in Shenzhen went home for the holidays and dropped by at our office. We have been working together since she transferred to China early this year, and she brought me this very sweet gift: A mini notepad with an oriental textile cover (I happen to have a thing for oriental stuff). How thoughtful!
This reminded me of Ying and Yang, the unity of opposites. Good and bad, night and day, warm and cold, crap and treasures. So, the principles of Ying and Yang being my guiding light, I do trust that I will survive this crazy week with an intact head.
If all else fails, then many many takes of ethanol-containing beverages will definitely make everything alright.

Sold out. The student theater group “Ars Bene Agendi” in Tübingen premiered its last production for this winter semester last Monday, December 10 – Edmond Rostand’s “Cyrano de Bergerac”.
The play tells the story about Cyrano de Bergerac, a hopeless romantic afraid of revealing his true affections for the love of his life, the beautiful Roxanne. Cyrano, a French cadet and a remarkable poet indeed, is in fact a lonely soul deep inside, who longs to be loved but is quite hesitant to let it happen as he believes that his physical appearance (his enormous nose specifically) does not make him worthy. Instead, he helps Christian de Neuville, a handsome cadet in Cyrano’s troop, capture Roxanne’s heart once he learned that Christian himself is in love with Roxanne as well.
A bittersweet romantic comedy with a tragic fate, “Cyrano de Bergerac” continues to play this week in the Brechtbautheater in Tübingen. The dernier will be on Saturday.
“I have eaten the cakes, Monsieur de Bergerac.”
“Good. Now go out and enjoy Nature.”
I just found out that Cyrano de Bergerac currently runs on Broadway too. Aaah, the flukes of life.
